Hippy Days, Arabian Nights covers five decades of south coast artist Katherine Boland's life, beginning with her hippy life in the Bega Valley in the 80s and 90s. She and her husband, John embraced an alternative lifestyle and learnt how to milk goats, mill flour, grow vegetables, spin wool and puddle mudbricks.
The experience was not all peace, love and mung beans but veered from the surreal - goat mouth to mouth resuscitation - to the sad consequences of drug addiction.
When the dream founders, Katherine's art leads her to Egypt where she falls in love with a much younger man and begins a romance that faces the tyranny of distance, opposing cultures, religious differences and even a revolution.
